Legacy has you using the newtonian physics to set up approach angles, and trying to outright outmaneuver your enemies, or doing "jousting" runs to try to wear them down. Elite is "roll and pitch spin to win contest" that's awkward and doesn't feel that fun. It's a very ambitious and very impressive project for a single person though.īetter controls (Yaw actually is useful, Boost can be held down so you can use it to course-correct)įull newtonian physics that can be turned on and off, which is build right into the combat (you can literally boost to high speeds, then turn off the IDS system and just coast in the direction you boosted while turning around firing directly behind you, for example)Ĭombat is way more involved. So don't expect some AAA level of production values. Evochron is developed mostly by one guy who contracts out bits and peices from time to time.

Once you learn it, the interface is just a bit cumbersome but is loaded with information you will need.Įlite is more user friendy and far higher fidlity. It's a bit daunting because the interface is a bit bold and in-your-face. You can do what you want when you want it provided you have the right ship and components. Just like Elite there is no real direction.

Lots more ship customization, mroe control over weapons, full planetary landings, base building, persistent servers, and a bunch of other stuff that is just more robust over Elite. The interface is improvement over Mercenary, but I find it to be still a bit obtuse. The interface isn't as good as Elite but the game is doing much more. You can also turn off the flight computer and just fly forever at a very high speed. Unlike Elite, none of the axis are limited to simulate atmospheric flight and you have control over your top speed while using the flight computer.

The flight model is full Newtonian and you fly at much higher speeds. This game is far more "hardcore" (and I hate that word).
